nixcapegames

Make games? Put yours here.

Upload an HTML5 build, we review it, and players find it next to ours.

Submit a game

How it works

  1. Make an account

With email or Google, in half a minute.

  2. Upload your build

A zip with index.html at the top, or an https link to your game.

  3. We play it

We check that it loads on computer and phone, and that it fits the rules.

  4. Live on NixcapeGames

Your game sits next to ours, with your name, its own page and stats.

Getting your build ready

The zip

  • index.html at the top of the zip (or inside one folder: we take it out).
  • All paths relative: js/game.js, not /js/game.js or C:\....
  • Max 250 MB unpacked, 3,000 files, 100 MB per file. Smaller loads faster: aim below 30 MB.
  • Unity: a WebGL build with compression off, or Brotli/Gzip with "Decompression Fallback" on.

In the frame

  • Your game runs in a frame, full screen on a phone. Scale with the window (resize event).
  • Pick landscape or portrait when you send it in; on a phone we show the game that way.
  • Start sound only after the first tap or click (browsers block audio otherwise).
  • localStorage and sessionStorage work; cookies, IndexedDB and service workers do not.

Image and text

  • Cover: 16:9, at least 1280x720, PNG/JPG/WebP, max 3 MB, no small text on it.
  • A tagline of max 80 characters: what do you do in the game?
  • Controls: one line per action, for mouse and touch.
  • One main category and up to six extra tags.

Testing

  • Save as a draft first and open your game with "Test your game": only you see it.
  • Test on a phone and on a computer.
  • Then press "Send for review".
  • An update? Upload a new zip: players keep the old version until the new one is approved.

Review and questions

How long does review take?

Usually within 3 days. You see the status in My games, and when email is on you get a mail when it is approved or needs changes.

What do you check?

Whether the game loads on computer and phone, the controls work, the cover and text are right, and everything fits the rules below.

What if my game is not approved?

You get a note saying what to change. Change it in My games and send it again.

Can I take my game offline again?

Yes, delete it in My games. It is gone from the site right away.

Do I earn anything?

Not yet. The site can show ads around games (under the game, sometimes a short ad before it starts). A revenue share for makers comes later: you hear about it first.

Can my game use rewarded ads?

Yes: call NX.rewarded("name"), for example for an extra life. You get { granted: true } when the player watched the whole ad. Listen to NX.on("pause") and NX.on("resume") to turn sound off and on.

May my game link to other sites?

A link to your own site or your game in the stores is fine. No gambling links, no ads of your own.

Rules for games

  • HTML5 (JavaScript, WebGL, WebAssembly). Unity, Godot, Construct, Phaser, PlayCanvas and custom engines all work.
  • Max 250 MB unpacked, max 3,000 files, max 100 MB per file.
  • Your game runs in a sandboxed frame on its own address. localStorage works through our storage; cookies and IndexedDB do not.
  • No ads of your own, no gambling links, no adult content, no hate or violence against real people.
  • You must own the rights to all code, art and sound. You keep ownership; you give us the right to show your game here until you remove it.
  • Updates go through review again. Players keep the previous version until the new one is approved.
